The vestibule of vagina is triagonal shape surrounded anteriorly by the clitoris and posteriorly by the fourchette and from both sides by labia minora.
There are four openings into the vestibule of vagina.
1-Urethral opening(Female)
2-Vaginal orifice
3-Opening of birtholin\’s ducts
4-Skene\’s glands
1-URETHRAL OPENING(FEMALE)
What is urethra?
Female urethra is mascular structure tube that carrying urine from the bladder to out side of the body .
The female urethra is 4 cm long starting from the neck of bladder to external urethral opening.
Female urethra shorter than the male urethra.
URETHRAL OPENING
Female urethra opens infront of the vaginal opening in vestibule.
Paraurethral glands are situated on every sides the opening of the urethra.it secretes a fluid and lubricate the urethral opening.
2-VAGINAL ORIFICE
This opening is situated in vestibule of vagina below the external urethral orifice.
It is moderately closed by hymen.(hymen is a thin membrane consist of of connective tissue and an elastic in structure some cases it is completely covers the vaginal opening.
The vaginal opening of a woman who has never given a birth of offspring.(nulliparae)is closed by the labia minora
The vaginal opening of a woman who has given birth one or more time\’s (parous women) it may be open.
The hymen that tears at the time of sexual intercourse or at the time of first birth of child.
Remaining part of hymen called as \’carunculae myrtiformes.
3-OPENING OF BARTHOLIN\’S DUCTS
There are two small glands that opens both side of the vaginal orifice
The glands are yellowish white in colour and pea sized.
At the time of sexual arousal ,it secreats mucus which lubricates the vaginal opening.
SKENE\’S GLANDS
IT is called also paraurethral glands
IT is alike to the prostate gland in the male.
It is situated either side of external urethral opening
